CLINICAL LEADERSHIP CERTIFICATE PROGRAM

We are pleased and proud to be continuing to offer an Executive Leadership program for Clinical Leaders operating in the Long-term Care context across Canada.

If you are familiar with this program (as an alumnus, as an alumnus sponsor/employer, as a supporter, etc.) you may be aware that we were previously affiliated with York University, Faculty of Health, and have transitioned to a Sector-centric Program with support from strong industry partners. The program fundamentals are unchanged, and we have made some exciting augmentations.

This is a program for Directors of Care or other Clinical Leaders in the LTC context. Participants must have sufficient sphere of responsibility to complete an Action Learning Project.

Please contact operations@measureofsuccess.ca for information on applying for this or future intakes (e.g. Fall 2025).

Course Fee: $3800, plus HST”

Program Breakdown

  • Overview: We position the Clinical Leader as one important individual (with limited time and energy) within a complex environment. We build an appreciation for ambiguity in dealing with many, but not all, of their challenges.

Given the leadership shift from “doing the work” to “creating an environment where others perform” we focus on collaboration and on methods to influence a system.

Intersessional activity: 1-on-1 coaching re: Kolbe report & Action Learning Projects

  • Overview:     Using a continuous improvement approach to quality, we introduce tools and orientations to positively impact the care environment using critical thinking.

This includes, but is not restricted to, clinical outcomes. We address the necessity to “do more with less” while maintaining necessary clinical standards. This thinking informs the Action Learning Project description and implementation plan.

Intersessional activity: Work on Action Learning Project; Team check-ins

  • Overview: We revisit the insights from the Kolbe instrument and use these to heighten self-awareness in engaging with colleagues, residents and family members.

Using tailored scenarios and real actors, we recreate common workplace challenges in simulations, which are followed by debrief and discussion with peers.

  • Action Learning Project presentation to fellow participants where participants share the original focus for their project and how the “actions” unfolded, as well as the clinical/business impact.

Participants also share reflections and learnings with respect to their personal development, their team understanding and the wider organization.

What our Graduates have to say:

  • “This program really helped me to further develop as a leader. It reinforced some of my natural tendencies, gave me new approaches to consider, and provided me with tools and insights to share with my team.”

Associate Director of Care, Long-term Care

  • “Since taking this program, I am more comfortable engaging with the conversation about metrics. This is often to provide context for a result or highlight what we need to do to change that result.”

    Director of Care, Long-term Care

  • “This was a bit stressful because it was my first leadership course since coming to Canada many years ago. My style is to be very direct and I developed ways to engage with my staff that help to maintain good relations while getting my point across. It was comforting to learn that others in the program were facing the same challenges that I was.”

    Director of Care, Long-term Care

  • “Great learning experience. Tested me in a way that I needed to be tested.”

Associate Director of Care, Long-term Care

  • “The actors in the simulations provided incredibly valuable perspective for us that is impossible to get through real-world experience.”

    Director of Care, Long-term Care

  • “This program provided a unique opportunity to connect with and learn from other in similar roles with similar challenges.”
